About Me

Continuing Education for Teachers

My name is Stephanie Mitchell, and I want to thank you for stopping by my website. I’ve been teaching second grade for 18 years now. I love my career and enjoy keeping up with the changes in the school system and educational materials. If you are a teacher, you know that we are required to have a certain amount of continuing education. I’ll admit that not all of it is fun, but it is necessary. The most fun I’ve had where continuing education is concerned is taking courses on my own. You can find professional courses in all core subjects, behavioral courses, assessment courses, classroom management, fun classes like art, and more. I’ve taken some courses online and some in a local classroom setting. I’m going to share more about my continuing education courses, and hope that my positive experiences will be encouraging to you.

A Camp That Offers Academic Help And Social And Emotional Growth

STEAM camps focus on skills that will help children grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Science, technology, engineering, art, and math are core subjects that are introduced at schools, but may not provide your child with the diverse learning and experiences that they will be supplied with through a camp program. Consider how this type of camp compares to a typical day or overnight camp, to determine if you would like to enroll your child in a STEAM program this summer.

Struggling In A Class

If your child is struggling in math or another core subject, you may be inclined to seek tutoring for your loved one. Tutoring can help your child master a set of skills that they have difficulties in, but not provide them with the expanded knowledge that they can attain at a STEAM camp. A regular day camp or overnight camp may tend to focus solely on recreational activities. Some summer camps are typically designed to allow children to explore outdoors.

A STEAM camp supports intellectual and creative growth. Common math concepts that your child may have already heard of may be presented at a camp. There may also be the opportunity to expand upon these concepts, through a series of hands-on or visual demonstrations.

At the end of a camping session, your child may feel refreshed and confident about starting the new school year. They may have discovered that math or another topic is something that they actually enjoy and this can have a positive impact on how well they do in school.

Failing To Discover Interests Or Connect With Others

If your child hasn't discovered their niche yet, they may be apprehensive about trying new things or may tend to jump from one activity to another. At a STEAM camp, your child will have the opportunity to expand their interests, though the introduction of many topics that they may not have heard much about before.

For instance, if your child hasn't dealt much with technology, they may be presented with some fun activities at a STEAM camp that will inspire them to learn how things work and the various technological components that are used to design various equipment that is used in everyday life.

If your child is shy or doesn't seem to connect well with others, they will be given many opportunities to forge friendships. STEAM camps offer sessions that are geared toward groups of children. Children may be paired up or placed with others who share similar interests.
